In Retrospect - Call for volunteers

EPTO is looking for 3 Belgian volunteers to take part in a European project called “In Retrospect”. Initiated by our Greek partner Inter Alia, this project focuses on the role of the media as a force shaping public opinion during the Yugoslav wars.

The aims of the project are to:

  1. Contribute to the formation of a more self-aware public opinion fostering analytical thinking and empathy.

  2. Cultivate civic attitudes that can bolster effective conflict management on behalf of the EU.

  3. Promote EU integration by fostering reconsideration of EU’s enlargement policy and raising awareness on distorted memories and false perceptions of both sides.

In collaboration with EPTO's educational coordinator, the mission of the 3 volunteers will be to:

  • Take part in all international meetings and work on images of remembrance of the Yugoslav Wars of the 1990ies, especially about the media coverage and news in Belgium;

  • Carry out 50 interviews in Brussels;

  • Select 5 interviewees in Brussels and film their perspectives;

  • Collaborate for the creation of a press registry and assist the design of the field research;

  • Organize 2 local events for screening the documentary and disseminating the results of the research.

  • Promote the project deliverables through all available on-line channels and traditional media.
