EPTO is offering a paid internship in communication management
Starting beg. of July 2018 (flexible date) / full-time (38h / week)

 

Want to develop your communication management skills in European projects? You can help young people in Belgium and Europe to become actors for inclusion.

 

EPTO is offering a paid one-year traineeship in communication management. You will be working with 7 passionate people, dedicated to supporting young people in fulfilling their unique potential, while creating a world where everyone learns from one another and overcomes their differences.

 

You will work closely with the Communication Manager, and several Project Managers creating systematic communication in English, French and Dutch to a wide network of young people, teachers and youth workers across Europe. You’ll be responsible for managing newsletters, social media, handling press and keeping all contacts relevant and updated. You will learn how to set up and manage European communication strategy, how to differentiate message for different target audiences, and be immersed in an European organisation.

Practicalities:

  • This is a full-time traineeship (5 days / week)

  • Contract duration: Initial 6 months, to be renewed.

  • Salary is based on “contrat d’immersion professional” (Belgian legal framework)

  • Start Date: Be available for interviews on first week of July 9 (job starts as soon as possible)

Scope of the position:

  • Support development and implementation of communication strategy

  • Contribute to promoting and publicising the work of EPTO (in English) through:

    • Website updating and maintenance

    • Maintaining and updating a database

    • Use social media tools – reach new supporters, disseminate information

    • Prepare e-newsletters – coordinate content, production and distribution

    • Translations English-Dutch

  • Simple design of communication materials – print, electronic, presentations, photo editing (implementing templates, researching imagery)

  • Responding to info requests

  • Manage communication with contacts, partners and associates (follow-up emails, thank-you letters, phone calls, etc)

  • Press (contact, press release, press file)

 

Qualifications Required:

  • Candidates are expected to have at least a Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.

  • Fluency in English and Dutch, both oral and written (Proficiency in at least one other language, preferably French, is a plus)

  • Familiarity with current ICT tools:

    • Document (Microsoft Office: in particular PowerPoint, Word and Excel)

    • Social media (e.g. Facebook and Twitter)

    • Internet cloud / collaborative tools (e.g. Google Apps, Dropbox)

    • preference to candidates who have knowledge and experience of basic graphic design tools (Adobe Creative is a plus).

Profile:

  • Highly organised, detail oriented, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a office environment

  • Writing skills in English and Dutch

  • Ability to summarise, find impacting messages

  • Ability to work productively from a distance within a dispersed team

  • Able to self-regulate learning in solving simple ICT problems. Passionate about information and communication technology

  • Wish to be trained on basic graphic design tools

  • Able to use collaborative tools (Google Drive and Spreadheets, Conference Calls; Email)

  • Joy and willingness to learn and working in teams

  • Confident in approaching unfamiliar people in meetings or on the phone

Reporting Relationship
All tasks will be carried out under the supervision of the Communication Manager and maintains a collaborative working relationship with all EPTO staff, partners and interns/volunteers.

 

Term:
One year guaranteed, subject to a favourable evaluation after the first three months. Extension of the term will depend on funds available. This is a full-time position. The traineeship will be based in the EPTO office in Brussels.

As a youth organisation, EPTO privileges giving employment opportunities to young people aged up to 35, but this is not a hard criteria for selection. What matters is to have the right match of values and needs.
