EPTO IS OFFERING AN INTERNSHIP IN RESEARCH MANAGEMENT

Want develop your research management skills in European projects? You can help young people in Belgium and Europe become actors for inclusion.

EPTO is offering a non-paid traineeship in research and project management. You will be working with 5 passionate people, dedicated to supporting young people in fulfilling their unique potential, while creating a world where everyone learns from one another and overcomes their differences.

You will work closely with the Co-Manager on a European project called “Peers for Integration” and aiming to facilitate the social inclusion of refugees by supporting their process of cultural adaptation and reducing the discrimination they are facing. You will be responsible for conducting the project research in Belgium and among EPTO members European-wide.

The research will concentrate on the following topics:

  • the main stereotypes, fears and cultural “friction zones” that have the potential to become sources of conflict or aversion between young EU citizens and refugees

  • the needs of young refugees in terms of inclusion and the obstacles they are facing

  • the perception of young people from the EU about migration and about asylum seekers

  • other initiatives with similar goals, their impact and good practices that were identified

  • challenges faced in social inclusion of young refugees in schools, in work or in the social life

Working methods will be:

  • Interviews & focus groups with migrants/refugees & asylum seekers/EU citizens

  • Analysis of similar research activities

  • Assessments & evaluations

  • Consultations with stakeholders directly involved in the process (namely organisations that work in the field of inclusion, anti-discrimination, refugee integration, migration),

  • Brainstorming,

  • Online meetings with relevant stakeholders.

Practicalities:

  • The duration and work schedule are flexible and to be agreed between the co-manager and the candidate.

  • Start Month: November 2018

 

Qualifications Required:

  • Candidates are expected to have at least a Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification

  • Experience in research

  • Fluency in English and French, both oral and written

  • Familiarity with current ICT tools:

    • Document (Microsoft Office: in particular PowerPoint, Word and Excel)

    • Internet cloud / collaborative tools (e.g. Google Apps, Dropbox)
